Electronic band created in 2006 by two musicians from Perpignan (France). They both come from a jazz background as they play guitar or piano in other projects, with an aesthetic outcome ranging from Free jazz to noise or any other style of music where improvisation holds a key role. They recorded an album as a duo released on the Mexican Net-label amprecs, Baby! Noise in 2008 and played concerts as a duo in Spain (Can Xalant, Mataro) and the Netherlands (Zaal 100, Trouw in Amsterdam). In this release, both musicians works with the *copyleft* Max/MSP patch pooll, thru witch is processed electric guitar. Different sessions recorded in August 2010 have been produced and arranged by Ayankoko to create the music of 1911. Nevertheless, all the music that can be heard is totally improvised. Xavier Lopez (piano/laptop, 1981, France) studies saxophone piano and drums at Perpignan's conservatory, his hometown. In moves to Amsterdam in 2002 where he studies classical and jazz music. He developed since then an autodidact approach to laptop playing based on feedback processing and sin-waves. His work deals with space and silence perception using memory as a time matrix, creating situations of highly demanding listening who question the musical performance as well than cultural consumption habits. He performs in different settings with a main focus on electro-acoustic sound blendings, often minimalistic, sometimes noisy.His influences range from Free-jazz to Jazzcore, noise music, reductionist approaches to improvisation, onkyo and world music. Lives in Paris since 2006 where he co-organizes the Trashvortex concert series. David Vilayleck (guitar/laptop, 1980, France) Music studies, electro-acoustics, jazz improvisation, guitar, at the french conservatories of Perpignan and Strasbourg, he performs worlwide with bands or as a solo project named Ayankoko. Over 15 releases on the web in Spain, UK , Germany, Mexico, Russia, France, and also Ayanrecords netlabel owner, developed his art from 2004 through the internet and the use of Creative Commons and open sources. His music ranges from noise to ambient frecuencies, abstract drones, minimal beats, DIY electronica, to instrumental improvisation and/or production. |
